They say a change cycle happens every seven years, and it is what we experience in this period. After all this time living, sharing, and creating together, the path of our dear Sandra separates from the BGKO.
In this special post we want to share our voices:
I say goodbye to the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra after seven years together. I feel honored to have been a part of this family, and such a special project. The BGKO is so much more than the sum of seven musicians. It is coexistence made music by seven very different people from diverse cultures, languages, beliefs, and value sets, united respectfully by one singular passion: music.
From them, I have learned to be a better person and to sing at the service of music and life. Now, I say goodbye with courage and so much love. The BGKO continues on, with new people, musicians, expressions, collaborations, always loyal to the magic of the group: a collective that loves music from Eastern Europe and shares it with enormous personality.
I now feel the need to step off this ride, because I no longer wish to maintain the same work rhythm. I want to channel my energy into a more tranquil path in order to continue singing and traveling at my own pace, and in order to guide other people in connecting with their own voices, and share my experience with whomever feels things in a similar way.
It was not an easy decision, but it is without a doubt the most honest. Therefore, it seems the best to me; for the group and for life itself.
I wish to infinitely thank my companions– each and every one is an incredible person! I also wish to thank the audiences that have given me so much: so much energy and love… Together, we have created so many unique moments. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I wish my BGKO family all the best, and who knows? … Reencounters are often magical and spectacular things!!!

Sandra has always been an inspiration, helping us mature and bringing out the best in us with her musicality and ever-expanding energy. We can never thank you enough for the years we shared, which have been intense as well as unique.
If there is one that characterizes the BGKO, it is its affinity for change. From the very start, this has been a crucial factor, but at the same time there has always been a constant: our passion for music, for learning, and for artistic evolution, though perhaps even more vital is the love that we always felt from our audiences.
Looking to the future, we will keep on working with enthusiasm, producing new material, and expanding our musical horizons with new collaborations.
In the next months we will have many surprises– stay tuned!
